Setup a MiFi

1. Power on your MiFi

Push Power Button for 5 seconds to power on MiFi.

2. Connect

Choose the WiFi network to connect to, just like using any other WiFi network.
SSID(the wireless network name) and password could be found on the back of MiFi.

3. Done!

You are connected now.


Setup SIM Card

The APN info

APN: 3gnet
Username: leave it blank
Password: leave it blank

Android

  1. Go to Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
  2. Tap “Menu” button and select “New APN”
  3. Enter the APN info above (and MCC = “460”, MNC = “01”)
  4. Tap “Menu” button and select “Save” (Enter anything you like if it ask a Name.)
  5. Select the APN you created by tapping circular image (button) next to it. Restart your device.

iOS 7

  1. Settings > Cellular
  2. Cellular Data = On, Enable 3G = On, Data Roaming = On
  3. Select “Cellular Data Network” and enter the APN info

iOS 6

  1. Settings > General > Cellular
  2. Cellular Data = On, Enable 3G = On, Data Roaming = On
  3. Select “Cellular Data Network” and enter the APN info

Setup VPN

L2TP/IPSec

Config Information
Hostname: xxx.xxxxxx.xxx
Host IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Username: xxxxxx

Preshared Key: xxxxxx

Android: L2TP/IPSec VPN Setup

  1. Open Settings and click on Wireless Controls
  2. Click on VPN Settings
  3. Click on Add VPN
  4. Choose L2TP/IPSec PSK VPN
  5. In the VPN Name field, enter UCOM VPN
  6. In the Set VPN Server field, enter Hostname
  7. Enter IPSec pre-shared key 
  8. Do not enable L2TP secret.
  9. Click Save

To connect:

  1. Open Settings and click on Wireless Controls
  2. Click on UCOM VPN
  3. In the Username: field, enter your supplied username
  4. In the Password: field, enter your supplied password
  5. Some users may select Remember username
  6. Click Connect

iOS (iPhone/iPad): L2TP/IPSec VPN Setup

  1. Open the Settings application
  2. Click on General
  3. Click on Network
  4. Click on VPN
  5. Click on Add VPN Configuration
  6. Select L2TP
  7. In the Description field, enter UCOM VPN
  8. In the Server field, enter Hostname
  9. In the Account field, enter your supplied username
  10. In the Password field, enter your supplied password
  11. In the Secret field, enter pre-shared key 
  12. Ensure that Send All Traffic is set to ON
  13. Click Save

To connect:

  1. Press the Home button
  2. Open the Settings application
  3. Click on VPN
  4. Click on UCOM VPN
  5. Set VPN to ON

Windows XP: L2TP/IPSec VPN Setup

  1. Click Start , Connect To and click to  Show all connections
  2. Click  to menu File and select New Connection…
  3. Click  Next
  4. Select Connect to the network at my workplace then Next
  5. Select Virtual Private Network connection then Next
  6. Type a descriptive name in the Company Name field (Ex. UCOM L2TP)
  7. Enter VPN the hostname provided by us
  8. You may need to use IP instead of Host name (In case of “Can’t find server”)
  9. To have a Kepard L2TP shortcut added to your desktop, click Add a shortcut
  10. Click Finish
  11. In the Connect window, click Properties
  12. Configure for L2TP/IPsec
    • On the security tab, Select Advanced (custom settings)
    • Change Data encryption to to Require encryption (disconnect if server declines).
    • Check the checkbox Allow these protocols
    • Check Challenge Handshake Authentification Protocol (CHAP)
    • Check Microsoft CHAP Version 2 (MS-CHAP v2)
    • Click OK
    • On the Sucurity tab, click IPsec Settings and check the Use preshared key for authentification and enter shared key 
    • On the Networking tab, change the dropdown box from Automatic to L2TP IPsec VPN
    • Deselect all the connections except Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
    • Click OK

To Connect:

  1. Double-click the vpn icon on your desktop
  2. Type in your Username and Password in their respective fields and click Connect
  3. Click Connect

To Disconnect:

  1. Click the Network icon on the taskbar
  2. Click Disconnect in the status window that pops up

Windows 7: L2TP/IPSec VPN Setup

  1. It is required to use the Username and Password printed on User Guide (A copy will in your email).
  2. Click Start -> Control Panel
  3. In the Control Panel, click View network status and tasks under Network and Internet
  4. Under Change your networking settings, click Set up a new connection or network
  5. In the Set Up a Connection or Network window, select Connect to a workplace and click Next
  6. In the Connect to a Workplace window, click on Use my Internet connection (VPN)
  7. In the Internet address: field, enter the Host name provided by us
  8. In the Destination name: field, type UCOM L2TP
  9. Select Don’t connect now; just it up so I can connect later.
  10. After double checking the fields, click Next
  11. In the User name: field, enter your supplied username
  12. In the Password: field, enter your supplied password
  13. Some users may select Remember this password
  14. Click Create
  15. Close the window – make sure not to hit Connect.
  16. Open VPN Connection Properties
    • In Network and Sharing Center, click Change adapter settings
    • Right-click your new connection and click Properties
  17. Configure for L2TP/IPsec
    • Select the Options tab and deselect Include Windows logon domain
    • Select the Security tab and in Type of VPN choose Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPSec (L2TP/IPsec)
    • On the Security tab, click Advanced settings , check the Use preshared key for authentification and enter shared key. Click OK
    • On the Security tab, change the Data Encryption to Require encryption (disconnect if server declines).
    • Check the checkbox Allow these protocols
    • Check Challenge Handshake Authentification Protocol (CHAP)
    • Check Microsoft CHAP Version 2 (MS-CHAP v2)
    • Finally, click the Networking tab and disable all the connections except Internet Protocol Version 4
    • Click Ok and your L2TP/IPSec+PSK for Windows 7 setup will be complete.
  18. You can now connect to it.

To Connect:

  1. In the Windows Taskbar, click on the Network icon
  2. Click on your new connection, and then click on the Connect button
  3. Type in your Username and Password in their respective fields and click Connect

To Disconnect:

  1. Click the Network icon on the taskbar
  2. Click the name of your VPN connection, then Disconnect

  1. Right Click on Network Connection Icon, form System Tray, then Click on Open Network and Sharing Center
  2. Click Set up a new connection or network
  3. Select Connect to a workplace then click Next
  4. Click on Use my Internet connection (VPN)
  5. In the Internet address field, enter the Host name provided by us
  6. You may need to use IP instead of Host name (In case of “Can’t find server”)
  7. In Destination name: fill in your VPN connection name.(Ex. UCOM L2TP)
  8. Click Security tab, in Type of VPN select Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPsec (L2TP/IPsec)
  9. In Data Encryption select Require Encryption (disconnect if server declines)
  10. Check Allow these protocols
  11. Check Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP)
  12. Check Microsoft CHAP Version 2 (MS-CHAPT v2)
  13. Press Advanced Settings
  14. Select Use preshared key for authentication
  15. In field Key put our preshared key (Find in both User Guide and Email)
  16. Press OK then again OK

To Connect:

  1. Open Networks pane, click on recently created VPN profile, then click on Connect
  2. Type your Username and Password in their corresponding fields. Click OK
  3. Wait connection..

To Disconnect:

  1. Open Networks panel, click on recently created VPN profile, then click on Disconnect

Mac Os X:

  1. In System Preferences, click Network Settings
    • Click the Apple then click System Preferences
    • Under Internet & Wireless, click Network
  2. Click + (the plus icon) to add a new connection.
  3. Select VPN for the interface, L2TP over IPSec for the VPN Type, and type a descriptive name for the Service Name (Ex. UCOM L2TP)

To connect:

  1. Click the VPN icon in the menu bar
  2. Click Connect to your new VPN connection

To disconnect:

  1. Click the VPN icon in the menu bar
  2. Click Disconnect from your new VPN connection

  7. Make sure PPTP Encryption is enabled.
  8. Click Save

  3. In the Username: field, enter your supplied username
  4. In the Password: field, enter your supplied password
  5. Some users may select Remember username
  6. Click Connect

iOS: PPTP VPN Setup

Note: Apple has removed PPTP support from iOS 10. Please use L2TP instead. – Jun-20-2016

  1. Open the Settings application
  2. Click on General
  3. Click on Network
  4. Click on VPN
  5. Click on Add VPN Configuration
  6. Select PPTP
  7. In the Description field, enter UCOM PPTP
  8. In the Server field, enter Hostname

  12. Ensure that Encryption is set to Auto
  13. Click Save

How to Connect

  1. Press the Home button

  9. Select “My Use Only” if this is only for your Windows’ user account, or “Anyone’s Use” if there are other Windows’ accounts that should have access to this Kepard account
  10. Click Add a shortcut to have a UCOM PPTP shortcut added to your desktop
  11. Click Finish

How to Connect

  1. Double Click the Kepard PPTP icon on your desktop or click Start, Connect To, UCOM PPTP
  2. Type your Username and Password in their respective fields
  3. Click Connect

Windows 7: PPTP VPN Setup

  1. Open Network and Sharing Center in the Control Panel
    • Go to the Windows Menu (Start), then Control Panel
    • Click on View network status and tasks
    • If your Control Panel is changed to classic, Click to “Network and Sharing Center
  2. Click Setup a new connection or network
  3. Choose Connect to a workplace then Next
  4. Click Use my Internet Connection (VPN)
  5. In the Internet address enter the Hostname provided by us
  6. Type UCOM PPTP in the Destination name: field
  7. Check Don’t connect now then Next
  8. Type in your Username and Password in their respective fields; leave Domain blank
  9. Check Remember this password
  10. Click Create and then Close

How to Connect

  1. In the Windows Taskbar, click on the Network icon
  2. Click on UCOM PPTP, then click on the Connect button
  3. Type in your Username and Password in their respective fields
  4. Click Connect

How to Connect

  1. Go to Applications and open Internet Connect
  2. In the Internet Connect application, click File -> New VPN Connection
  3. In the next prompt, select PPTP and click Continue
  4. In the VPN (PPTP) window, make sure Configuration: is set to Other
  5. In the Server address: field, enter Hostname
  6. In the Account Name: field, enter your supplied username
  7. In the Password: field, enter your supplied password
  8. Some users may select Show VPN status in menu bar
  9. Click Connect

Mac OS X 10.5+: PPTP VPN Setup

Note: Apple has removed PPTP support from MacOS 10.12. Please use L2TP instead. – Jun-20-2016

  1. Launch the System Preferences application
    • Click Network under Internet & Wireless
  2. Click the + Plus icon at the bottom of the source list on the left to add a new connection
  3. Select VPN for the interface, PPTP for the VPN Type, and enter UCOM PPTP for Service Name
  4. Click Create
  5. Select the newly created Kepard PPTP connection
  6. In the Server Address field enter the Hostname provided by us
  7. Type your Username in the Account Name field
  8. Click Authentication Settings and enter your Password in the Password field, then click OK
  9. Click Advanced, check Send all traffic over VPN connection, then click OK
  10. Click Apply

How to Connect

  1. Click the new VPN icon in the menu bar
  2. Click Connect UCOM PPTP
